Healthcare Waste Management Software

Healthcare Waste Management Software (HWMS), is a computer-based system for tracking waste container (Bin) movements from the time it enters a hospital premises until its risk waste contents are treated at a waste treatment plant. The system enables reconciliation of individual or batched bin weight figures recorded by the hospital and that received at the treatment plant. HWMS has three main modules which are the Hospital Module, Plant Module and the Web-based Reports Module. The Hospital and Plant modules are built using and run on Microsoft .NET platform whereas the Reports module is on Drupal, a web Content Management System (CMS).

The system uses RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology for tracking the bins and indentifying users operating the system. Most of the system’s basic usage does not require the user to directly interact with the software’s user interface, but to just scan the RFID tags.
